Introduction to Rota - City Centre
Rota is an ancient town which is located at the very north of the Bay of Cadiz. The town has the Atlantic Ocean to its west and two national parks to its east. The city centre encompasses the Old Town, nestled inside its ramparts and boasting what almost could be described as a medieval atmosphere. Rota has developed into a summer destination for many European tourists and is now primarily a resort town. Rota City Centre hotels primarily cater for those planning to visit the 16kms of fine beaches on offer in the area. Due to the fact the town is on the Atlantic coastline, Rota is an ideal town for those into water sports such as windsurfing. The nearest airport to the town is at Jerez and there is no rail service. The town can, however, be reached by travelling on express coach. The town is a great spot to indulge in the local cuisine, including sampling dishes like arranque, made of chopped tomatoes, bread, peppers and olive oil.
