Parador de Oropesa Hotel - Toledo

The opulent Parador de Oropesa Hotel is surrounded by mature woodlands and is a perfect retreat for a quiet holiday. It is actually a meticulously restored castle from the 15th century and offers stunning views of Sierra de Gredos and the Camp Aranuelo plains. Though secluded, it is easy to access as it is a few minutes from the motorway and about a kilometre from the railway station. Some of the attractions in and around Oropesa include the Convent of Nuestra Senora de Recuerdo and the Convent of the Sisters of Mercy.

The cuisine of the region is rich in abundance and simplicity. A fine example of this is the parador restaurant, which offers such exquisitely tasty dishes like migas del aranuelo (breadcrumbs), roast kid and marinated partridge.

The building was expanded in the 15th century with palatial additions being made in that minutely executed style known as plateresque.

The well preserved exterior of the hotel also contributes to its charm.
