Parador de Guadalupe Hotel - Caceres

The Parador de Guadalupe Hotel Caceres is a high end historic complex set on the former palace grounds, right in the heart of Guadalupe, next to the picturesque Royal Monastery. The beautiful old town and the famed Jewish quarter are both close by, and there are several shops in the immediate vicinity. Authentic local cuisine is served in the restaurant on site, and the casual bar is the perfect place to meet other travellers. Relaxation amenities and other on site highlights include an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by lush gardens.

The cuisine in Extremadura is varied, with many typical dishes such as 'la caldereta de cordero' (a lamb dish),'el pestorejo', 'la sopa de arroz cacerena' (a Rice soup), 'el bacalao monacal' (a cod dish), 'el pincho mudejar' (skewered meat), and 'el pollo a lo padre' (a chicken dish). For dessert there is 'el nuegado de Guadalupe' and when the time of year is right, 'el pudding de castanas' (chestnut pudding).

Refurbished in 1985, the artistic building preserves untouched almost all its original features. Among the most enchanting is the porched inner square filled with orange trees and an ornamental fountain in the middle.
