Introduction to Pamplona - Outskirts
The outskirts of the city of Pamplona are good for those wanting to have a quiet time in the region, but with easy access to the many fine restaurants and sights of the area. This is the home to one of the world's most famous festivals, the Festival of San Fermin, or the Running of the Bulls. The bulls are gathered from the outlying districts and the ranches, or corrals. There is a small provincial airport in Noain, south from the city, with flights from Madrid with Iberia. By road, the outskirts are reached by way of the A-12 and A-15 autovias. Pilgrims and the serious hiker make a stop in the Pamplona region when taking the pilgrimage walk to Santiago. The route leaves the main part of Pamplona at the University of Navarra, in the city's southwest, and continues on to Cizur Minor. An attraction for golfers is the course at La Pedraza on the road to Aranguren in the eastern outskirts of the city, which are easily accessed from hotels in Pamplona.
