In the beautiful and historic province of Murcia, southern Spain is the relaxing coastal town of Los Alcazares. It is a laid-back spa town on the edge of a large lagoon called Mar Menor and is perfect for romantic getaways. Hotels in Murcia Los Alcazares give easy access to the beaches of Mar Menor, which provide a safer environment, especially for children, than the open sea. Though it is thought of as a spa town, with its beautifully restored ancient spa and its healing waters, water sports on the lagoon are also popular here, especially kite boarding and windsurfing. The town is around one to two miles from San Javier Airport. Local shops, bars and restaurants can be found all across town, though are mostly concentrated on the beachfront. The summer months are the busiest here, with the local population of 15,000 mushrooming to around 150,000 in June and July.
