Introduction to Murcia - Aguilas
On the southern end of the Costa Calida, the port of Aguilas sits between two beautiful, historic bays, Puerto Poniente and Puerto Levante. The former, on the southwest side of the city, was once one of the principal ancient ports of the Mediterranean. The town is crammed with museums, theatres, sports clubs and a casino, as well as significant British architecture from a British colonial arrival during the late 19th century. Aguilas hotels are completely surrounded by beaches, enough to give tourists the option of touring five every day for a week without returning to the same one twice. One of the most popular is Playa de las Delicias, just minutes from the city and offering an array of water sports and leisure activities. Playa del Fraile is found on an island just off the coast and is popular for scuba diving and snorkelling. The Castillo de San Juan is the town's proudest attraction, located high on a mountain peak overlooking the bay. The Aguileno Carnaval is one of the wildest in the Murcia region; those who miss it should check out the Carnaval Museum in town.other spellings: aguilashotels, agulas otel, agilas hote, aguiles hotles, acuilas hotle, akuilas hotes
