The Spanish town of Mijas in the scenic Costa del Sol region of Andalusia can actually be divided into three areas. Mijas Costa is a modern beach resort which caters to English speaking tourists drawn to the sun and sea. Most Mijas Costa hotels are beachfront resorts with stunning seaside views or self serving apartments ranging from spacious villas to small studios. Mijas Pueblos, on the other hand, is where most of the town’s history can be found, as well as many other hotels in Mijas Costa. Mijas is also home to seven different golf courses, including Spain’s biggest golf resort, and four more courses are currently being constructed. Many Mijas Costa hotels cater specifically to golfers and are built right on the golf courses. Mijas visitors may also rent country villas on several acres of land with extraordinary views and plenty of privacy. The town’s donkey taxi service is the most unique way to explore the many attractions of Mijas.
