Introduction to Mallorca - Puerto Pollensa
Wonderful scenery, a chilled-out atmosphere and nice, sandy beaches are what to expect at Puerto Pollensa, a resort town on Mallorca that sits at the opposite end of the island to Palma. The crescent-shaped bay is backed by the Tramuntana Mountains, creating one of the island’s finest natural settings. Like most coastal towns in Mallorca, Puerto Pollensa began life as a fishing village and evolved into a resort destination. Thankfully, this village has managed to maintain some of its traditional charm. Between the marina and the ever-popular Pine Walk is the main strip of the village, where locals and residents alike take their evening strolls. Many of the cafes along this strip have sidewalk seating and a good selection of bars sputter into life as the sun goes down. Puerto Pollensa is a favourite spot with families because of its laid-back atmosphere and calm, shallow waters at the beach. The coast here is perfect for swimming but visitors can also enjoy water sports and boat cruises from the beach and marina. Nearly all Puerto Pollensa hotels are within an easy walk of the beach.
