Introduction to Mallorca - Portals Nous
The portside neighbourhood of Portals Nous is a popular beach spot for residents and tourists alike in the busy sprawl of Mallorca. It’s located between the buzzing resorts of Palma Nova and Costa d’en Blanes, just a few minutes from its marina, which is steadily emerging as a preferred mooring point for yachters and celebrities. There is a nice array of restaurants and bars clustered around the marina, both trendy and more localised. There’s just one small beach at Portals Nous, but it’s very pretty and rarely crowded. Accessible either by walking along the shore from the marina or descending a narrow path down the cliff, this stretch of sand is good for swimming or relaxing on the sand. One of Mallorca’s islands, Marineland, sits directly offshore from the beach with its popular dolphin show and other sea-themed exhibits. There aren’t any nightclubs in Portals Nous, but a handful of bars ensure something to do after dark and nearly all of the Portals Nous hotels are within an easy walk of the dining and drinking scene.
