Introduction to Mallorca - Colonia Sant Jordi
The Spanish seaside resort of Colonia Sant Jordi is sited on the southeast corner of Mallorca Island. It is in the Ses Salines district, around 25kms from the capital of Palma. Compared to some other Mallorcan resorts, it is quiet and offers uncrowded beaches such as Es Trenc and Es Carbo. The beaches stretch out on either side of the headland upon which the town is situated. The nearer beaches offer guests at Colonia Sant Jordi hotels waterside cafes, parasols and sun loungers. Water-based activities for visitors include windsurfing, sailing and swimming. For the less active, pedalos are available for hire. Es Carbo is a little walk away along the coast, but the long stretches of soft sands here are great for strolls and paddling. The Cabrera island archipelago is opposite this beach. Some of the accommodation establishments offer facilities including pools and gyms.
