Introduction to Mallorca - Cala Rajada
In the half-century or so since the first holiday flights arrived at the Spanish island of Mallorca, this incredibly-pretty, sun-kissed Balearic island has become one of the top sunshine destinations in the Mediterranean. Life here is about more than just sea, sun and sand, however, despite its popularity with package tourists. The coastal resort of Cala Rajada, which sits on a stunning promontory surrounded by fabulous blue-green seas, is arguably one of the most beautiful holiday spots on an island overflowing with impressive natural scenery. Reaching hotels in Cala Rajada takes less than 1 hour, 30 minutes on the Ma-15 highway from Palma, a route which takes in the countryside of the interior. It takes just minutes to reach the ferry port, from where high-speed ferries make the trip to the nearby island of Menorca. Fantastic sea views can be enjoyed from the tip of Punta de Capdepera, with Menorca being visible on clear days. Some of Mallorca’s most beautiful coves and beaches are located here, with more beaches at villages like Cala Millor.
