Introduction to Mallorca - Cala Mandia
The small resort village of Cala Mandia is built around a series of three lovely coves with wide sandy beaches just perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Also known as Cala Romantica, this stretch of coast on the eastern side of Mallorca makes an excellent holiday destination for families and couples alike. Just four kilometres to the south is Porto Cristo, a much larger resort that absorbs much of the mass tourism in this corner of the island. This helps to keep Cala Mandia quieter and more relaxing than its bigger neighbour. But this tranquility may not appeal to all, as there are few options for dining or nightlife here. Many visitors who stay in Cala Mandia hotels head into Porto Cristo for entertainment and meals. Besides the beautiful beaches, there are a couple of interesting natural attractions nearby such as the Caves of Drac and the Caves of Hams, two of the island's most popular sightseeing spots.
