Introduction to Mallorca - Cala Bona
Few places in Europe have done a better job of attracting huge numbers of sun-seeking tourists than the Balearic island of Mallorca, one of the most popular destinations in Spain. Millions of people head to the island every year, primarily in search of sea, sun and sand. The old fishing village of Cala Bona lies on the east coast, close to many of the most popular beaches. Cala Bona hotels are ideally located for accessing the island’s top destinations including the cave complex at Drach, about 10kms to the south. On the way to the caves, visitors pass Sa Coma, home to some of the finest golden sand beaches on the island. Those seeking to avoid the holiday crowds might want to check out Porto Cristo, about 15 minutes’ drive south on route MA-4023. The government has poured money into refurbishment here and despite the fresh, modern infrastructure, it has yet to be ‘discovered’ by the hordes. About two kilometres to the west of Porto Cristo sits Coves dels Hams, an impressive cave system that is popular with visitors.Visit our Mallorca Travel Guide
