Introduction to Madrid - Serrano
The shopping mecca of Serrano Street, affectionately known as the Golden Mile, is the place to head in Madrid if shopping is high on the agenda. This bustling street lies in the middle of one of the city’s wealthiest districts, Salamanca, where luxury jewellery shops, world-class designer boutiques and classy modern buildings are the norm rather than the exception. This long street contains more than just retail fantasies, however. Madrid’s Archaeological Museum is here, along with the charming Columbus Square where shoppers can rest their legs. As in most smart shopping districts, there are some excellent high-end Serrano hotels nearby along with a respectable array of fine dining venues and popular bars. There are certainly worse parts of Madrid to stay in, and if shopping and dining are priorities then Serrano may just be the best place to stay.
