Introduction to Madrid - Atocha
Located in the heart of Madrid, Atocha is the city's main rail hub boasting a wealth of its own attractions, making it the point of arrival and residence for many people that visit the Spanish capital. Despite its central location Atocha is one of the greenest areas of the city. The station is located just south of the Royal Botanical Gardens, which come alive in spring and summer. Adjacent is the Cristal Palace, encircled by expansive lawns and gardens that remain a favourite spot for locals and tourists. They are also overlooked by the impressive Church St Manuel and St Benito Church to the north. Within just a few minutes' walking distance of the station are a number of cultural attractions, such as the Queen Sofia Art Centre and Circo Price Theatre. The Naval Museum is also reachable on foot from here.
