Introduction to Madrid - Alpedrete
Located 20 miles northwest of the centre of Madrid, Alpedrete is a suburb of the Spanish capital that is well placed beside the A6 road that heads to the city and a major national park. Manzanares Cuenca Alta Regional Park, just two miles from the town, is a beautiful expanse of hilly countryside popular with those looking to escape Madrid. The park features the Manzanares River and its tributaries, including a large lake at the opposite side. Overall, it's a popular place for hiking and camping that can get busy in summer, but is almost empty during the rest of the year. Alpedrete is part of the regional Madrid suburban train network on the C8 line which gets into central Madrid in less than half an hour.
