Introduction to Madrid - Alcorcon
In 1960, Alcorcon, Spain, was a tiny agricultural village with less than 1,000 people. Today, there are over 166,000 people living in this suburb of Madrid, the city 13kms away where most of Alcorcon's population works. Alcorcon hotels are close enough for guests to easily reach Spain's national capital, yet far enough from the city to enjoy tranquil atmospheres. The Valderas Castles now house the over 160 exquisite masterpieces of the local glass art museum, 60 of which were from the private collection of renowned artist Takako Sano. The late 16th century Santa Maria la Blanca church is this community's other distinct historic landmark. The cultural hub also contains its own libraries, an arts centre, a theatre school, a film school named after Pedro Almodovar, two dance schools, a music conservatory named after Manuel de Falla, and even a circus school. This city also features no fewer than a dozen different parks and green spaces.Visit our Madrid Travel Guide
