Introduction to Logrono - Calahorra
Spain's La Rioja region is legendary for its wine. Its second-largest city is Calahorra, which sits atop a hill where the Ebro and Cidacos rivers converge. The capital of La Rioja, Logrono, is situated around 50kms north and makes a great daytrip for travellers staying in one of the pleasant Calahorra hotels in town or the surrounding countryside. With its roots stretching back to the Roman era and earlier, Calahorra has loads of interesting culture, architecture and history on display. A huge green riverside park runs the entire length of Main Street, providing space to walk and relax, while a tidy downtown core contains plenty of places to eat, drink and shop among its winding streets. This is an ideal destination for travellers with a car, as just outside the town are a number of interesting historic sites, Rioja wineries and small Spanish villages worth exploring. Calahorra can be easily reached by bus, train and the A-68 motorway.
