Introduction to Logrono - Badaran
Situated 20 miles west of the regional capital Logrono in the northwest of Spain, Badaran is a little town of fewer than 700 people in the middle of the country's famous wine-growing region. The town makes a good base for exploring the numerous Rioja vineyards in the area or for travelling farther afield to Logrono and Sierra de Cebollera National Park, about 50 miles to the north Bilbao. Many vineyards offer tasting and sell their excellent reds onsite. Lying just over 10 miles to the national park, Badaran is popular with hikers with its hilly yet surprisingly-green terrain for arid Spain. The best sites nearby are in Logrono, which is a major wine city and home to a host of cultural and historic attractions including the elegant Santa Maria de la Redonda Cathedral. The handful of Badaran hotels available are midrange at prices that are considerably lower than those in nearby Logrono, Pamplona and Bilbao.
