Introduction to La Palma - Los Llanos
Las Palmas is located in the Canary Islands and is one of the most favoured tourist destinations for those Europeans looking for a good summer holiday or winter sun. To the west of the island is the town of Los Llanos, where visitors can enjoy the nearby beaches of Puerto Naos and Tazacorte. The hotels in Los Llanos are mostly in the town centre although there are a few resort-style places right on the coast. The town has kept much of its original historic features, but has developed areas with pedestrian-only shopping zones such as Plaza de Espania. The town has a modern museum, but much of the architecture is from past times, with brightly painted houses featuring the local style of wooden terraces. This is the ideal place to come for a winter break as the temperature remains warm regardless of the time of year. Although set on the opposite coast to the island capital of Santa Cruz de Las Palmas, Los Llanos is easy to get on the main LP-2, with a journey of around 40 minutes.
