Introduction to La Coruna - Outskirts
La Coruna is a busy port city situated in the northwestern Spanish region of Galicia. Tourism in the city has increased over recent years due to its centrally located beaches and a promenade which stretches 10kms and goes round the outskirts of the entire city. It is Europe's largest promenade and has a bike path as well as a tram line that spans most of the length of the walkway. The city's outskirts contrast greatly with the wild northern coastline, with its rocky, almost barren mountains, while the city's south is far more gentle. The northernmost outskirts of La Coruna offer stunning views over the Bay of Biscay. The Tower of Hercules is located on a headland a short distance outside of the city and is a lighthouse which dates back over 1,900 years.
