Introduction to Jaen - Bailen
The charming traditional town of Bailen can be found in the Jaen region of Spain. Although Bailen has a long and rich history, as is evidenced by its convent which dates back to 729 AD, it is also a place that has embraced the modern world. Most leading Bailen hotels can be found in the very heart of the town, which makes getting around easy for guests. One of the most famous landmarks in the town is the enchanting church of La Encarnacion, which dates back to the 16th century. This church has played an important role in history as General Castanos, who received honour for defeating a French army when it invaded Bailen, can be found buried at the church. The church also contains a sculpture that was created by Alonso Cano, while a number of excellent restaurants serving tasty local dishes and other amenities can be found nearby.
