Introduction to Jaen - Andujar
The Spanish province of Jaen is the world's largest olive oil producing area, but also makes for a great holiday destination. Situated midway between the cities of Cordoba and Granada and surrounded by mountains, Jaen is a great place to use as a base for exploring these cities, but it also has some great attractions of its own. The beautiful Renaissance villages of Ubeda and Baeza are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are not to be missed. Both are easy to reach as they are just off of highways A-36 and A-32, making for a convenient day trip. The river Quadalquivir runs through the province, resulting in some picturesque landscape, with the town of Andujar sitting on its banks alongside the Madrid-Cordoba railway. As a result, there is a great selection of Andujar hotels, ideal for those arriving into Jean by train or for those wanting to explore the mountains and olive trees throughout the area.
