Introduction to Granada - Albolote
Set on the fertile Grenada Plain just six kilometres from the famous city of the Alhambra Palace is the pretty Spanish town of Albolote, now a suburb of the city and a popular alternative tourist destination for visitor who prefer to stay outside the city centre. Historically an agricultural market town, Albolote is close to both magnificent palaces and pristine natural scenery, with its farming traditions still well to the fore. A short drive away are the Elvira Mountains and the Cubillas mademade lake and reservoir. The town itself is impressively landscaped and set with parks and floral reserves. Albolote hotels welcome visitors year-round as they're set close to the myriad tourist attractions, as well as the outdoor pursuits of the surrounding countryside. The cultural trail of the Route of the Nasrids passes right through the town and continues through the ancient land of Andalusia, inhabited since before the Romans arrived.
