The island of Gran Canaria is the largest of the Canary Islands, which lie off the coast of Morocco. It is an extremely popular tourist resort with Europeans, especially the British and it is the beautiful coast where many of the hotels in Gran Canaria are located. The coastline is dotted with restaurants, bars and the beach with its water sports and sunbathing facilities. On the north of the island is where the budget and chain hotels are located. Many package deal holidaymakers spend their holiday in this area. There are also guesthouses and traditional Gran Canaria hotels here, which are good to stay in if you do not like the commercial hotel feel. In the centre of the island you will find the less touristy area, where the Gran Canaria hotels are traditional and romantic. It is quite rural in the centre and a very relaxing place to stay, away from the busy beaches.
