Introduction to Gomera - Alajero
Though it's one of the smallest of the Canary Islands, La Gomera has much to offer visitors by way of a relaxing vacation filled with natural wonders. La Garajonay National Park is the main attraction, filled with walking and biking trails extending all over the island. Alajero is a village on the southwest side of the island, within the ancient aboriginal territories of Orone and Hipalan. The town and eponymous district are popular for unique fauna and beautiful beaches, particularly Playa Santiago. This beach has become a major stop for tourists looking for time on the beach or on the greens - the island's best beach and only golf course are surrounded by a beautiful mountain backdrop and clear blue seas. From Alajero hotels, it's easy to get to all of the island's must-see spots, including Tapahuga, del Medio and Chinguarime. The neighbouring villages of Benchijigua, Lo del Gato and Targa y Antoncojo are perfect places to stop and chat with locals or eat delicious Gomeran dishes made with mojo sauces and palm honey.other spellings: alejero otel, elajero hote, allajero hotles, alagero hotle, alajaro hotes
