Located at the end of a canal running off of the river Ter is the small Spanish village of Banyoles, perfectly located in a tranquil spot close to the city of Girona. This quaint village is situated along the natural Lake of Banyoles and makes for an ideal countryside vacation. The lake has been the venue for many well-known rowing events including the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Many professional rowers still use it for training, and watching them in action can make for an interesting afternoon. It is also a great spot for fishing and equipment can be hired here.
