Introduction to Estepona - City Centre
One of the least commercialised and most peaceful places where people can stay during a visit to southern Spain’s Costa del Sol region is the picturesque fishing community of Estepona. Estepona may be just an hour away from Malaga International Airport and only 25kms west of bustling Marbella, but this comparatively sedate and historical community often seems much further removed from the more crowded Costa del Sol resorts. Several hotels in Estepona city centre are situated in the heart of the city’s delightful old quarter, which is filled with narrow cobblestone streets and outdoor cafes. The high-rise buildings dominating the landscapes of several other Costa del Sol resorts are conspicuously absent here. Estepona’s biggest and most popular beach, La Rada, and its accompanying promenade are situated in the middle of its city centre. Visitors never have to leave the centre to dive, sail, or fish during the day or to party at night as any one of the marina’s bustling bars and clubs provide entertainment after the sun goes down.
