Introduction to Cuenca - Outskirts
The city of Cuenca, Spain has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and is located between the cities of Valencia and Madrid in Europe’s third least populated region in the centre of Spain. Cuenca was originally constructed on steep mountain edges, and many of the houses and hotels in Cuenca city centre were built on the edges of cliffs. These ’hanging houses’ rank Cuenca among Spain’s most unique and picturesque cities. Reserving Cuenca city centre hotels in advance is always recommended because most of the city’s accommodations are small in size. Hotels in Cuenca city centre in the city’s old town may be far from vibrant nightlife, but close to fresh air and breathtaking mountain views. More affordable Cuenca city centre hotels and hostels are situated in Cuenca’s more recently built area, and one of Cuenca’s more unusual hotels is housed inside a former choir school from the 17th century. The huge sign of another Cuenca hotel can be seen from all corners of Cuenca.
