Introduction to Costa Tropical - Carchuna
Very Spanish and comparatively undeveloped, the small Andalusian coastal resort of Carchuna lies with its three neighbouring towns of Calahonda, Castell de Ferro and Torre Nueva at the eastern borders of the Costa Tropical. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the rugged coastline holds many sheltered coves offering great snorkelling and diving. Set midway between Malaga and Almeria airports, the town is easy to access. The 18th century Carchuna Castle overlooks the town and its main beach, some four kilometres long. It's a good spot for sailing and windsurfing as well as fishing, and there are plenty of eateries set back from the beach for a seafood meal and a sunset-watching session. Carchuna hotels are quiet, comfortable places to stay — good for families and those not needing riotous nightlife.
