Vinaros is a municipality, town and fishing port in Castellon Province, in eastern Spain's Costa del Azahar.
It has a population of around 26,000 inhabitants and is primarily a working town with a significant fishing industry.
The town's history dates back to when the Arabs occupied Spain.
It became an important port during the 16th and 17th centuries, when defensive fortifications and shipyards were built.
Its main industries were fishing, shipbuilding and wine production.
Today Vineros remains a working port, but it also has developed its tourism sector.
It is well known for its fine seafood, particularly its king prawns.
An interesting place to visit is the 16th century Esglesia de l'Assumcio church.
February is a popular time of year to visit as this is when the annual carnival takes place.
In August, there is also a fiesta which honours the king prawn and offers free shell fish tastings.
