Introduction to Costa Brava - Cadaques
The stunningly beautiful little harbour and town of Cadaques lies on Cape Creus, on the Costa Brava in Catalonia, and was the inspiration for artists such as Salvador Dali, Picasso and Miro, with Dali picturing aspects of the town in almost all his artworks. Cut off from the rest of the touristy Costa Brava by the headland of the Cape, the resort is picture-perfect and mostly unspoilt. Little labyrinthine alleyways crowded with white-painted homes wind their way around the town and fishing boats still trawl the ocean for the daily catch. Cadaques Bay is Catalonia's largest natural harbour, with summer boating visitors anchoring in the harbour offshore from the pebbly beach. The charming old quarter holds many heritage churches and other buildings, and gets crowded with upscale visitors in summer, as do the Cadaques hotels set among its picturesque charms. Salvador Dali's house, several museums and a great choice of art galleries are the recommended sites of interest here.
