Introduction to Cantabria - Comillas
The region of Cantabria is nestled between the Cantabrian Sea and the Cantabrian Mountains on Spain’s northern coast. This area is known as ’Green Spain’ because its oceanic climate provides mild winters and pleasantly warm summers to this scenic region. One of the most picturesque communities in this autonomous community, whose size is slightly smaller than the American state of Connecticut, is the former Spanish nobility fiefdom of Comillas, situated 50kms from Cantabria’s largest city, Santander. Comillas may be a small community, but there are more hotels in Cantabria Comillas than in most other parts of the city. Comillas is a former theological seminary perched on a hilltop overlooking a stunning bay, a walled harbour where fishing boats come and go throughout the day, and a long beach. The beach here has golden sand, a scenic esplanade, and a relaxed atmosphere during most parts of the year. The biggest hustle and bustle takes place during the community’s weekly Friday market.other spellings: comilas otel, comilla hote, comellas hotles, cumillas hotle, komillas hotes
