Introduction to Burgos - Outskirts
Both the Spanish province of Burgos and the city that shares its name are situated in Castilla y Leon, about 240kms north of Madrid and 160kms south of Santander and Bilbao. Burgos is an important stop on the Way of St James pilgrimage, and the city’s most famous landmark it its magnificent cathedral, which houses the final resting place of the legendary Spanish military leader El Cid. Most hotels in Burgos are good quality and situated within walking distance of the cathedral, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and most other worthwhile attractions. The historic city may not be among Spain’s most famous tourist destinations, but the centuries-old convents and Gothic churches which fill its streets are all worth close looks. The same can be said about the Monaterio de las Huelgas Reales where many Spanish royal family members are entombed, and one of Burgos’ newest attractions, a museum of human evolution.other spellings: burgoshotels, burgos otel, burgos hotell, bergos hote, burgoss hotles, brugos hotes
