Introduction to Barcelona - Sant Just Desvern
Barcelona is Spain's second largest city and one of the leading tourist, cultural and economic centres in the world. Nearby Sant Just Desvern is a municipality located in the Baix Llobregat comarca, to the west of Barcelona. It limits with Esplugues de Llobregat to the east, Sant Joan Despi to the southwest and Sant Feliu de Llobgregat to the northeast. The town's first historical mention was in the year 965 AD. The city council refers to Sant Just Desvern by using the Catalan slogan pobleciutat, which translates as town and city. A large majority of the inhabitants of the town - which total at just fewer than 15,000 - speak Catalan as their first language. The town is popular among the rich and famous of the region, with some FC Barcelona players and politicians, including Jose Montilla, choosing to live here.
