Introduction to Barcelona - Parc Guell
Designed by world-famous architect Antonio Gaudi and located on El Carmel hill, Parc Guell is one of Barcelona’s most visited tourist attractions. This municipal park is free to enter, but there is a charge for visiting Gaudi’s house, La Torre Rosa. However, plenty of his work is scattered around the park, including mosaic tile-work, the serpent-shaped main terrace and some unique roadways. In the centre of the park, a large cross provides one of the best 360° views of the city, encompassing one of the artist’s other famous works, the Sagrada Familia cathedral. Travellers can reach the park by taking a metro train to Lesseps Station, from where it is a steep climb to the park itself. Parc Guell hotels offer guests the chance to stay in Gracia, one of the most distinctly Catalan districts in Barcelona. There is plenty of cheap food and drink here thanks to the large student population who inhabit this district.
