Introduction to Barcelona - Hospitalet de Llobregat
Hospitalet de Llobregat, on Spain’s eastern coast of Catalonia, is a city of contrasts, where traditional architecture and old churches sit beside gleaming new skyscrapers. The city abuts the south side of the more famous city of Barcelona and is just a short distance from this neighbouring city’s busy port. Ferries for destinations including Genoa and the Balearic Islands depart from the port. Although many visitors use Hospitalet de Llobregat hotels as an overnight stay when catching ferries, people staying longer will discover that there are a number of interesting sites and great tapas bars here. El Centre is the focal point of the city and home to the History Museum, the stone Santa Eulalia Church and the Renaissance-style l’Harmonia building. Bars in the district serve wines and tasty, locally-brewed beers. La Farga shopping centre contains boutiques, leading Spanish retailers’ outlets and a cinema.
