Introduction to Barcelona - Granollers
Barcelona hotels in the Barcelona Granollers area provide excellent access to Barcelona city and other regions of Spain for both tourists and business people. Granollers is the capital of Valles Oriental and many industries are based here, while the southern area of Palou retains echoes of its agricultural past. The Congost River runs through Granollers and the town is a handy distance to green areas where walking trails can be explored. One of the biggest tourist draws in the immediate area is the Renaissance La Porxada, once a grain storehouse. Gothic architecture is on show at the old hospital of Sant Domenec, which has been restored and is now the Francesc Tarafa Theatre. The necropolis of Can Trullas, dating to pre-Roman times, is also here along with the Basilica de la Mare de Deu de la Merce, redesigned in 1775. A large market is held in Granollers on Thursdays and the town possesses modern retail outlets and a good selection of restaurants. Barcelona’s airport is located on the other side of the city but it only takes about 45 minutes to reach. Several train stations in Granollers make it easy to exploit the excellent regional rail network.Visit our Barcelona Travel Guide
