Introduction to Barcelona - Castelldefels
Home to many great examples of Spanish life, vibrant commerce and some of the greatest architecture on the planet, Barcelona needs little introduction to most tourists. This is a city of great manmade beauty as well as substantial natural scenery, all within reach of superb shopping, fabulous cuisine and a heady nightlife scene. The Castelldefels district offers visitors an excellent combination of relatively relaxed coastal scenery, luscious nature parks and solid amenities. Hotels in Castelldefels sit in a village that is supported by a strong tourism industry. The famous beach, more than five kilometres long, is at most only a kilometre to the south. To the north, the verdant expanses of Garraf Natural Park run from the village’s borders for many kilometres north. The picture-book castle of Castell de Fels y Muralla Exterior, which dates back about 1,000 years, sits in a prominent position and is easy to visit. Visible throughout the area are many watchtowers, built predominantly in the late 16th century.
