Introduction to Barcelona - Badalona
Situated just 10kms from the heart of Barcelona, Badalona makes a great alternative place to stay for those who want to explore this part of Spain without having to surround themselves with the hustle and bustle of the city. Fortunately, there are plenty of excellent Badalona hotels, which tend to be more moderately priced than their counterparts in Barcelona. Visitors will want to spend plenty of time exploring Badalona as there is a whole host of interesting attractions to discover here, such as the Monastery of Sant Jeroni de la Murtra, which dates back to the 13th century. Another prominent attraction is Pavillard house, which was built in 1906 by Joan Amigo i Barriga and is considered by those in the know to be the city's best modernist work. Symbolising the wealth of ancient Rome, the white marble statue of Venus of Badalona is a truly striking sight, while the Town Hall (Case de la Vila) is also stunning.
