Introduction to Asturias - Candas
Scenically situated on the Bay of Biscay in Spain's northern Basque region, Candas is a small town in the autonomous community of Asturias. The town is located around 15kms northwest of the city of Gijon and 20kms west of Aviles. Candas has a picturesque town centre with narrow streets and some nice local shops. The most renowned landmark is the statue of a wife with her child awaiting the return of her sailor husband. There are several small, peaceful beaches which provide nice spots for sunbathing while the white local lighthouse, on a hill overlooking the bay, offers superb views. Most Candas hotels are located in the town centre and offer a comfortable environment amid peaceful surroundings. The town has fewer than 7,000 permanent inhabitants and is fairly small, meaning everything is within walking distance. There is a good choice of restaurants and bars throughout Candas.other spellings: cendas otel, candes hote, canndas hotles, candass hotle, candas hotes
