Introduction to Almeria - El Ejido
The city is situated just off the main A-7 route along the Spanish Mediterranean coast, in the province of Almeria. El Ejido has traditionally been a centre for the cultivation of fruit and vegetables, and is still regarded as an important area for fresh produce. Although it is situated inland from the sea, it is only a short trip to the coast and the good beaches at San Miguel Levante and Poniente. The hotels in El Ejido are in the central part of the town and clustered among the older Moorish buildings which highlight the close association to past inhabitants. Architecture from several eras mixes with the much admired styles of the city's modern structures. One of the great draws for tourists is Castle El Eljido, which dates back to the 18th century and is located right on the coast. As this city is also a commercial centre, there are plenty of places to eat and drink along with good entertainment opportunities and local bars.other spellings: elejido otel, eljido hote, el ajido hotles, al ejido hotle, el egido hotes
