Introduction to Almeria - Adra
Tourists can enjoy traditional Iberian culture as well as having fun in the sun on a visit to Adra, a pretty resort town on Spain's southern Alboran seacoast. Adra's three beaches are known as the best in Almeria province, with the largest, Poniente, found on the west side of the harbour surrounded by shops and tapas bars. With over a dozen eateries serving tapas in town, there's sure to be something for everyone, including seafood, the local speciality. Be sure to try dishes based on octopus and mussels caught fresh from the bay. A pretty walking path to the harbour's east side takes visitors from their Adra hotels to the smaller, quieter beaches of San Nicolas and Censo. The town's museum holds three fascinating exhibition halls showing the legacy of the Phoenician, Punic and Roman civilizations, all of which ruled the area and shaped local culture. Built in 1914, the recently renovated El Molino del Lugar hosts the ethnographic section of the museum. A number of festivals take place throughout the year, and a fun local market is held twice a month on weekends.other spellings: adra otel, adra hote, adra hotles, adra hotle, adra hotes
