Introduction to Alicante - Outskirts
The seaside city of Alicante is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain. Its excellent location on the Mediterranean gives great access to urban attractions, beaches and countryside. Hotels in Alicante make it easy to enjoy the city’s many sites and to hit the scenic seaside. The historic and picturesque attractions of the old city are easily reached from hotels in Alicante. The Castle of Santa Barbara is a bit of a hike, however, so it may be a good idea to use the elevator to reach the top of Mount Benacantil. The walk from Plaza de Carmen is very scenic, however. Another similar destination, the Castle of San Fernando, is to the north of most Alicante hotels. The most popular local beach, Postiguet Beach, lies in the centre of the city.
