Introduction to Alicante - Denia
Denia is a major fishing port and popular holiday resort located on the eastern coastline of Spain approximately 85kms from the city of Alicante. This city is home to one of the region’s most important harbours, which boasts a huge fishing fleet that contributes immensely to the wealth of the city. Archaeological evidence reveals the history of Denia to date back thousands of years. In the 4th BC, it was home to a Greek colony but the subsequent centuries saw it undergo incredible political turmoil. It was only in 1803 that Denia was reclaimed by the Spanish. Nowadays, visitors flock to the city to enjoy its bars, seafood restaurants and beach resort appeal. There are plenty of Alicante hotels, most of which are centrally located and offer a high standard of accommodation.
