Introduction to Alicante - Biar
The town of Biar is located at the foot of the Sierra Mariola mountains, around 40kms from Alicante and Spain's gorgeous Costa Blanca coastline. This pretty little town features a number of historical buildings, including the dominating castle which stands proudly on a hill overlooking the city and offers superb views. Among the other most significant attractions is the 12th century Torre de Homenaje (the Honour Tower), which features Valencian and Islamic architecture, and is listed as a national monument. The central square is home to the Town Hall, which is yet another impressive building worth seeing when in town. If you need a break from all the culture, there is an excellent selection of restaurants and bars where you can sit at the outdoor tables and watch the world go by. There is no shortage of Biar hotels on offer for those who plan on staying a day or two.
