Introduction to Albacete - Almansa
The small Spanish town of Almansa, in the province of Albacete, offers an impressive range of historic buildings. From hotels in Almansa, visitors can easily tour the fabulous old buildings, the most impressive of which is the huge 14-century castle that towers above the town like something straight out of a fantasy film. The bell tower of La Asuncion, the Assumption Church, offers another, much more ornate, piece of history to decorate a tourist visit here. The church was built between the 16th and 19th centuries. The town hall is in the 16th century Los Condes de Cirat palace, which boasts a superb facade, especially surrounding the arched entranceway. The town's clock tower is slightly less ornate than many other buildings, as it was built in 1780. The Convent of San Agustin dates from the 17th century and features some ornate decoration on its bluff facade. The local reservoir, built in 1584, is Europe's oldest and is just eight kilometres from the town.
