February Festivals

Seoul Lunar Year: is celebrated with much fervour as it is a day for family members to come together and enjoy a meal with specially cooked dishes. Traditional ancestral rites are carried out throughout the day.
March/September Festivals

Seokjeondaeje Memorial Rite: is one of Korea's most important festivals held to honour Confucius and 27 holy sages. Events include performances by a traditional court orchestra and enactments from the old court days where officials dressed in ceremonial dress carry out sombre rites at the Confucius Shrine (Daeseongjeon Hall) at Sungkyunkwan University. Memorial Day: is held to honour the student protesters who died in the riots at Daegu on February 28, 1960 as well as those who died in battle.
April/October Festivals

Royal Wedding Ceremonies: gives visitors an opportunity to get an idea of what traditional wedding ceremonies were like. These ceremonies often lasted for moths, but the re-enactments take just one hour.
May Festivals

Hi Seoul Festival: is celebrated over five days with parades, drama performances, traditional ceremonies, food fairs and light shows.
Seoul Tano Festival: sees a variety of games and events such as traditional music and dance performances. There are also many games contests including rope skipping, chachigi (stick-tossing), ssirum (wrestling), and swinging and seesawing signals the start of summer.
September Festivals

Baekje Tomb Festival (Hansong Paekche Cultural Festival): commemorates the Hansong Era of the Paekche Kingdom (18BC-660AD), one of two influential empires that administered the Korean peninsula and shaped Korean culture. The festival is celebrated over three days and includes an international folk fiesta, an old traditional dance presentation and the Paekche Queen Tournament. There is also a dazzling procession that honours King Kunch'ogo.
Seoul Performing Arts Festival: this festival sees artists from Russia, Tunisia, Germany, Iran and many other countries arriving to partake in vomptetions and performances. Dance companies and playhouse actors entertain with award-winning masterpieces.
