Busan (Pusan) Travel Guide - Activities
Dadaepo beach: is a small peninsula area in the south of Busan. You can relax on the beach, swim in the sea or just watch people around the area. When the tide is out, locals usually come out looking for clams and crabs, which is an interesting sight to see. Some people also come here for morning exercise or picnics. Ulsuk-do, the island of the wildlife estuary, close to the beach, also features a variety of birds. Those into fishing can hire a boat to the south sea. Boat trips to see small offshore islands are also available.
Hiking: hikers should head to Annam Park, a tree-covered rocky peninsula in Busan’s southern area. Hiking trails are found up the park’s peak. You can see spectacular views of Busan and the surrounding cliffs while the south sea below gives out glittering reflection. There are small areas boasting exercise equipment if you want to build up your muscles.
Watersports: the beach of Gwangalli is very famous for its white fine sand. Travellers usually come here to lie on the beach and soak up in the sun. A variety of water sports are also provided here. You can water ski, jet ski and windsurf while those waiting around can go shopping or watch movies in the square nearby.
Hot spring: health freaks have to hit the Dongnae spa, the most famous spa facility in Korea, boasting six large spas. The water has been pouring out of hot springs since the Three Kingdoms period and is believed to have healing powers. The alkaline salty water begins at 55°C so make sure you dip in slowly.
Fresh seafood: when you are in Busan, seafood is what you just have to try. You can buy live seafood in the market and bring it to a fish restaurant where they can cook the food for you. If you have seafood dishes in the restaurant, they will provide you with special hot and sour dipping sauce which even spices up your already mouth-watering dishes.
Busan is also famous for raw fish. Locals eat raw fish with kimchi and gochujang, all wrapped in a lettuce leaf. The best place to have raw fish is the Millak Town Raw Fish Center, a large brown building at the northern end of Gwangalli Beach.
