Known in South Korea as the city of Brotherly Love Suwon is home to around one million permanent residents and is located within the Seoul conurbation, only 30kms south of the capital city of South Korea. The ancient city walls and drum towers are a major tourist attraction and most Suwon hotels are located within walking distance of it. Some hotels in Suwon are very modern though high rise buildings are not a dominant part of the skyline here unlike other large cities in South Korea. Suwon is one of the centres of education in South Korea with 14 universities located in the metropolitan area alone. Suwon hotels do a very brisk trade as a result of the non-stop activity of the universities and the endless streams of arriving academics, conference delegates and the friends and families of students and teachers. You should not have any trouble getting a room though, even if you do not have a booking since the amount of hotels in Suwon is very large.
